NAHL Release – Dec. 14, 2009
St. Louis goaltender Garrett Bartus backstopped the Bandits to a two-game sweep over Springfield, turning aside 47 of 48 shots. On Friday, the St. Charles, Ill., native made all 23 saves as the Bandits blanked the Jr. Blues, 3-0. The next night, the 20-year-old who will begin his college career at the University of Connecticut (Atlantic Hockey) next semester stopped 24 shots in a 3-1 victory.
"Garrett has been a great leader for us and has done an excellent job in net," said Bandits assistant coach Rocky Russo. "We're sad to see him leave for UConn next week, but we're excited for him to get the opportunity to start at the Division I level."
